AUXILIARY



The local VFW Auxiliary 3396 participates in supporting Veterans in our community.  We do Buddy Poppy Drives to raise money for Unmet Needs for our veterans and their families, we sponsor VFW Scholarships – for High Schools, Middle Schools – the Voice of Democracy, the Patriot’s Pen, the Patriot Art Scholarship, for Elementary age kids -"The Red, White & Blue” singing contest, the "Illustrating America” art contest, We promote Youth Activities by supporting patriotic community events, providing assistance to our Active duty military children at Easter Egg Hunts, Christmas parties, Halloween parties, scouting events, summer camp, backpack drives for the NVNG, and so much more.  We have patriotic educational presentation s in schools for our programs to promote Americanism and awareness of civic responsibility such as "get out the Vote”We participate in our community’s parades for Veterans Day in Reno and our Sparks Christmas Parade, with recognition for our Veterans, we assist with Community Outreach for unmet needs such as food baskets for families, 

We do visits for patients at the VA Hospital and other hospitals
We do fun activities and picnics for patients at the Northern Nevada State Veterans Home (Nursing home) 
We raise funds and gather necessities and essentials for homeless Veterans
We play Bingo and indoor Golf with Veterans in the Community Living Center at the Hospital and have rootbeer float parties, football game watch parties, hamburger bbqs, whatever we can to bring festivities to inbound patients in the hospitals
We cook meals for the sick
We cover caregiving for the homebound veterans and families
We support the local Family Readiness Groups
We attend flag ceremonies, welcoming and departing Honor Flight veterans at the airports
We contact our legislators to keep interest in our Veterans
We attend Memorial Services in our community, for Memorial Day, at our cemetaries, wreath layings, Sparks Veterans Memorial at the Marina, dedications at Military locations, we go to Gold Star Memorial Services to pay tribute to our Nevada’s fallen servicemembers
We promote Americanism in our community by recognizing employers and businesses in Sparks/Reno area for flying the American flag by presenting them with Certificates of Appreciation at flag raising ceremonies
We do food drives at Victorian Station to support the NNFB
We participate in the Farmers Markets including 39North at Victorian Station for membership drives and awareness campaigns 
We volunteer at many community service events here in Sparks, Reno -we done Golf Tournaments at Red Hawk to help financially support the Nevada Memorial Plaza at the Marina
We supporting many vets that have traveled the country educating Americans about POWs veterans
We support POKER runs -bikers to raise funds for Veterans needs
We supported community clean ups at the River and parks
